How did it all start?
The persons behind Escapeaway have been colleagues for several years in the travel industry before starting up Escapeaway (Kulturrrejser Europa and PortugalBureauet). Mikkel Krohne-Sørensen was at that time responsible for marketing, Simon Westh Henriksen was responsible for software and IT and Marie Kaalund Winther was responsible for production and incentive groups (mainly Portugal).
Back in July 2012 Mikkel, Simon and Marie wanted to take the next step for a new market that has not appeared wholeheartedly in the Scandinavian market: Handpicked, charming hotels and with accommodation prices after the device “value for money”.
Things took off
Since September 2012 we have visited ourselves every single hideaway in the portfolio which means that we in total have more than 200 different and “approved” hideaways in Southern Europe (Spain, Greece, Italy, France and Portugal).
The 16th of March 2013 Escapeaway was launched as the new Danish travel company with a concept not yet seen (in the combination of the product, booking system and webpage).

Little by little more and more destinations will be added and today Escapeaway is represents properties in:

Escapeaway in the future
At the moment Escapeaway is selling in the Danish Swedish, Norwegian and German market (in Germany under the Brand Escapeaway). With the same product, the same destinations and the same visual touch.

No matter who you get in the phone when you call Escapeaway, you will soon experience our passion for the product. Like we have handpicked our hotels, we have also "hand-picked" each other. We are a team where each one of us has different skills and experience. Although, overall, we do not count more than 10 (working) hands, we cover all the core areas of production, marketing, sales and especially IT. Together we have more than 40 years of experience in the travel industry, and we feel that we have only just begun...
